On February 7, at 4:30 a.m., a warrant was served on Nicholas Ayers of Jefferson. Officer Terrence Mems with the Jefferson Police Department served the felony warrant at 406 East Watson Street, located in the city limits of Jefferson, with the assistance of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Upon entering the residence, several drug items were located in plain view. Officer Mems took defendant Nicholas Ayers into custody without incident and confiscated all drug items.

Franklin Goynes, 24 of Jefferson was shot and killed by his uncle, Kenneth Ray Holt, 48, on Saturday morning, January 28 on FM 2208, approximately three miles West of Jefferson after a game of dominoes at Holt’s residence, according to Marion County Investigator David McKnight.
